Where did the app go?
Beddy Butler is a menu bar app and intentionally has no Dock icon. Look for the moon near the right side of the macOS menu bar. Click it for the Tonight panel. Right click it for Preferences and the complete command menu.
I cannot see the moon
Open Beddy Butler again from Applications. On Macs with a crowded menu bar, macOS or a menu bar organiser may hide the icon. Temporarily reveal hidden menu bar items, then keep Beddy visible.
I cannot hear a reminder
- Open Preferences and confirm Nudge style includes Sound.
- Check Beddy Butler's voice volume.
- Check the Mac's output volume and selected audio device.
- Right click the menu bar moon and choose Hear a Butler Sample.
I prefer a silent reminder
Choose Visual in Preferences. The menu bar icon gains a persistent badge when a nudge is due. You can also enable silent Notification Centre alerts with Acknowledge, Snooze, and Pause actions.
My schedule changes from week to week
Use a rotating schedule. Choose an anchor date, then enter the number of active and rest nights in your cycle. Beddy calculates the pattern in either direction, so it remains stable before and after that date.
Friday or Saturday needs a different bedtime
Enable the second schedule, give it a meaningful name, and select exactly the nights it should use. This supports religious observance, family routines, weekends, and any other weekly pattern.
Beddy opened at the wrong local time after travel
The app listens for time zone, clock, sleep, and wake changes. If the displayed schedule has not refreshed, quit and reopen Beddy Butler. Please report the original and destination time zones if the problem returns.
System requirements
Beddy Butler 2.0 requires macOS 13 Ventura or later.
